You've just invested in a professional carpet cleaning, and your home feels and smells brand new. The result of a professional cleaning is a cleaner, healthier indoor environment. But the work isn’t over just because our technicians have left. The next 24-48 hours are crucial for ensuring your carpets stay in their best condition and the cleaning process is a complete success.
As a leader in professional and eco-friendly cleaning solutions, Clean Technologies, LLC wants to empower you with the knowledge to protect your investment. Here’s a simple guide on what to do after we’ve completed our service.
The Golden Rule: Let It Dry!
Most professional cleaning methods, especially our eco-friendly hot water extraction process, will leave your carpets damp. The key to a perfect result is proper drying.
Avoid Walking on the Carpet: This is the single most important thing you can do. Walking on damp carpets can re-soil them immediately by transferring dirt from your feet, and it can also cause the carpet fibers to mat down. We recommend staying off the carpet for at least 4-6 hours, or until it is completely dry to the touch. If you must walk on it, use clean socks or booties.
Increase Airflow: To speed up the drying process, circulate as much air as possible. Turn on your ceiling fans, use portable fans, or open windows to create a cross-breeze. This promotes evaporation and helps the deeper layers of the carpet and padding dry efficiently.
Utilize Your HVAC System: On a humid day, running your air conditioner or a dehumidifier will help remove moisture from the air, which in turn helps your carpets dry faster.
The "No Furniture" Zone
Our technicians may have placed small plastic tabs or foam blocks under your furniture legs to prevent them from staining the damp carpet.
Leave the Furniture Elevated: Do not remove the plastic tabs or blocks until your carpet is completely dry. Moving heavy furniture back onto a damp carpet can not only dent the fibers but can also cause rust or wood stains to transfer onto your freshly cleaned carpet. We recommend waiting at least 24 hours to be safe.
Long-Term Maintenance for a Lasting Clean
Once your carpet is fully dry, you can resume normal activity. But to maintain that fresh look and feel, we suggest these simple, ongoing habits:
Vacuum Regularly: This is your best defense against daily dirt and grime. Regular vacuuming (at least twice a week) removes the dry soil before it can get embedded in the carpet fibers. A high-quality vacuum with a strong suction and a HEPA filter is a great investment for long-term carpet care.
Address Spills Immediately: Accidents happen. The key is to act fast. Blot (don't rub!) spills with a clean, white towel or paper towel. Rubbing can damage the carpet fibers and push the spill deeper, making it harder to remove.
Consider a Protective Application: Ask us about our carpet protector services. A protective application creates an invisible barrier around each fiber, making it more resistant to spills and stains and extending the life of your carpet.
Following these steps will help you maximize the benefits of your professional cleaning service, ensuring your carpets remain a clean, comfortable, and healthy part of your home for years to come.
